Round 5 Review

Round 5 of the 2019 Touring Car Masters series was run last weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, formally known as Eastern Creek, as part of the Sydney Master Blast and Muscle Car Masters.

For the first time the TCM cars raced on the Saturday night under lights and over the weekend put on some sensational racing.

Ryan Hansford turned up fit and ready and after Friday’s practice it was obvious the front group of 5 cars would again be split by tenths or hundreds of a second. Bowe, Johnson and Seton was once again joined by Hansford and team …

Round 4 review – Queensland Raceway

Round 4 of the 2019 Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters series was run recently at Queensland Raceway and the field was as competitive as it’s ever been and straight out of the gate on Friday morning faster and closer than ever before.

Ryan was feeling good in the Multispares Torana and was 2nd quickest with a time that was nearly 1 second faster than his 2017 qualifying time and like in practice a few weeks earlier .6 sec faster than he had ever been around the “paperclip”.

By qualifying which was a few hours later it was obvious that the …

Round 4 preview – Queensland Raceway

Since the previous round 3 of the 2019 Touring Car Masters series at Winton Raceway, Ryan and the team have been busy. As reported widely in the motorsport press Ryan went under the knife on July 4th.

“Yesterday (July 4) I had my right testicle removed. About a month ago now I felt a small patch of hardness to one side of it, there was no lump and it wasn’t sore at all,” Hansford posted on the Multispares Racing Facebook page.

“It took me around 3 weeks to get to the doctor as I didn’t think much of it at …

Round 3 Winton TCM review

Round 3 of the Paynter Dixon Touring car Masters Series moved to rural Victoria last weekend at Winton Raceway, 2 hours north of Melbourne.
With chilly mornings greeting the team, the first point of call was to plug the Multispares Torana in to the 240v and warm up the oil, before the 5Litre Chev can be started. To achieve the permissible 5L, the engine is a 327 Chev de-stroked back to 5 Litre and has to run the mandatory series Brodix heads. They do however allow 8000rpm so there is nothing better than standing at the fence as the Multispares Torana …

Round 3 Winton TCM preview

Round 3 of the 2019 Touring Car Masters series gets underway this Friday, May 24th and the field has gained another famous name to join Johnson, Bowe and Hansford.

Aaron Seton, son of Glenn Seton will be racing a Camaro in what looks to be the most competitive field ever in TCM. Adam Bressington leads the series and Adam Garwood who has been racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup is also returning in the other Whiteline Racing Camaro, while Mark King recovers from shoulder surgery.

Since Phillip Island the our team have updates the rear end which can now have much more …

Round 2 Phillip Island TCM review

Round 2 of the 2019 Touring Car Masters series was run at Phillip Island where the series hasn’t raced since 2015.

The Multispares Torana had some major work done in between Adelaide and PI, the most important being the relocation of the weight ballast so the race car has better balance. In addition a new engine was built and the car was once again very fast at Queensland Raceway before heading off to “the island”.

Ryan has raced his Multispares V8 Ute at Phillip Island, and as many would understand still feels a little apprehensive being at the Island….

Project A9X Torana

In March 2018 our new Torana TCM project started with the delivery of a 1977 Torana bodyshell to our Kippa Ring workshop. Our current SLR5000 had been the best car available to purchase 12 months earlier once the team decided to take on the Touring Car Masters series with Multispares at the end of the V8 Ute series.

Our driver Ryan Hansford was thrilled to drive the Torana, our small team was enjoying the challenge and the Multispares customers and guests were loving the old classic race cars, the V8 race engines and …

Hansford heads to Mt Panorama

The Multispares team have been busy with the annual quick turnaround between Sandown and Bathurst. With mixed weather conditions sweeping across Melbourne the weekend before last, Ryan and the crew had to be right onto getting the right tyres and car set up on the Multispares Torana for each practice and race.

Ryan qualified the SLR5000 in 5th place and raced hard, dicing with 3 other cars in race 1 to eventually finish 5th. Race 2 was cancelled after the brand new XD Falcon driven by Marcus Zukanovic had a huge crash at the infamous turn 6 at the end of …

Multispares wins at Townsville

Ryan Hansford and his Multispares SLR5000 Torana have taken their first outright race win last weekend around the streets of Reid Park, Townsville. Ryan qualified 4th behind Johnson, Bowe and Andrew Fisher with only .3 separating Bowe to Hansford.

After a great start in race 1 where Ryan jumped straight up into 3rd place with a great move around the outside of Fisher in turn 1, he lost 3rd gear in the gearbox and dropped a few places. Coming into the last corner, Jim Policina took a big dive down the inside of Jason Gomersall but was way too late on …

Multispares wins at Winton

Ryan Hansford and his Multispares SLR5000 Torana have had their best result so far in Touring Car Masters grabbing the Pro Am class win and finishing 2nd to Steve Johnson overall at Winton Raceway for round 3 of the 2018 series.

Last year, Winton was only the 2nd round for Ryan and the team in the Torana but this year they returned having learnt what gearbox and diff ratios they need for the tight and twisty layout. Once again the Friday practice was wet and once again Ryan was fast just getting pipped by Johnson on the last lap as the …
