Hansford 2nd overall

Ryan Hansford has finished 2nd overall to Steven Johnson in the 2023 Touring Car Masters series after a thrilling final round in Adelaide. The series has come down to the last round for the past 4 seasons. Ryan has finished 2nd three times and won the title in 2022.

With wet weather looming for the Thursday start to the weekend, Ryan was quickly out of the gate in practice and straight on the pace, claiming the fastest time.

After practice Ryan said, “The first practice session of the weekend is always tricky as most of the track is a public road and …

Hansford wins at Bathurst

Ryan Hansford and the Multispares Racing team had a standout performance in round 5 at Mt Panorama Bathurst, clinching victory in Race 3, securing a 2nd place overall finish, and significantly closing the points gap to Steve Johnson, who finished 5th.

During practice, Ryan was pleased with the Torana’s performance but sought additional speed due to the shortened session. “The car feels solid, and navigating Mt Panorama is always exhilarating, but I anticipated a bit more speed,” Ryan commented. Despite this, he remained optimistic, stating, “I believe we’re in a good position for Qualifying.”

Hansford heads to the mountain

Ryan Hansford and the Multispares Torana will be competing at Mt Panorama Bathurst this coming weekend, Nov 10, 11 & 12 for round 5 of the 2023 Touring Car Masters series.

Ryan won round 5 at The Bend, and sits 2nd in the series points.

With a dozen of the New Zealand TCM field coming over for Bathurst and Adelaide it will be brilliant having a big field rumbling around the mountain as part of the Bathurst International round for TCR. Racing will be shown live on Nine and Stan Sport on Saturday afternoon, followed by live coverage on Sunday exclusive on …

Preview – The Bend

The 2023 Touring Car Masters series heads to The Bend in South Australia this weekend for round 4 of the championship.

This is the first visit to the track for the TCM series and whilst a couple of the drivers have driven there in other cars, it will be the first time for Ryan.

The final 3 rounds also include Bathurst and the Adelaide Street circuit. This weekend there are 19 TCM cars and with the NZ TCM cars joining the series for the last two rounds that will swell to nearly 30 cars on the grid.

At the last round at Winton, …

Hansford hanging onto 3rd

Round 3 of the 2023 Touring Car Masters series was held at Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla, central Victoria. Ryan Hansford arrived hoping to claw back points from runaway leader Steve Johnson. As always, practice was first up on Friday morning and Ryan was comfortably 3rd, reporting all was well with the Torana.

Next up on Friday was qualifying and not having raced at Winton since 2019 the aim was to go out and bank a quick lap then sit in the pits to save the tyres. Steve Johnson and John Bowe had other ideas, putting down some very fast times. …

Hansford’s horsepower is back

Round 3 of the 2023 Touring Car Masters series is coming up at Winton Motor Raceway, June 9, 10 & 11. Defending series champion Ryan Hansford is second in the points after two rounds and he will have his #1 engine back in the Multispares Torana, after parts were delayed many months.

Team owner, Rod Dawson was quietly confident after the 5L Chev came off the engine dyno at Cragsted Performance Engines last week. “Craig had a little more time on the dyno this time and has come up with a touch more mid-range torque, whilst still getting the maximum HP …

Hansford Maintains 2nd

The 2nd round of the 2023 Touring Car Masters was held in Newcastle just two weeks after the cars were in Tasmania, which meant by the time the transporters got home there was just 8 days before they left for Newcastle.

The challenge for the team was to get the diff housing repaired. The housing was damaged when the diff exploded in practice in Tasmania. The crew kept the Multispares Torana going in Tasmania by cleaning and resealing the mounting face after each race but it was too much of a risk to race with it again. Fortunately Race Products, the …

Hansford second in Tasmania

Ryan and the team did a fabulous job to finish round 1 in 2nd position last weekend at Symmons Plains.

Team owner Rod Dawson drove straight through from Brisbane to Geelong, with the Multispares Torana on a trailer, to catch the last ship on Thursday evening to make practice 1 on Friday morning. When the new JE pistons did not arrive from the US to rebuild the team’s engine, they were very fortunate to be able to lease the engine out of their first Torana, now owned by Allan Hughes.

That engine however required a rebuild so it was a race against …

Multispares and Hansford going for back to back titles

The 2023 season really started on the Sunday afternoon in Adelaide after winning the 2022 TCM championship the day before. Ryan had cruised to the series win being careful not to get involved in someone else’s crash and started race 3 with the Multispares Torana tuned up to catch and pass Steve Johnson. After starting 4th he was soon into 2nd and believed he had the speed to do it, but coming down the back straight, the Torana went onto 7 cylinders. Ryan quickly shut it down and coasted into the pits.

The team packed up Sunday afternoon, and headed to …

Hansford wins the 2022 Championship

Ryan Hansford has won the 2022 Touring Car Masters series after a tricky weekend at the Adelaide 500. Last year Ryan finished 2nd outright in a nail biter, with John Bowe winning his 6th title. With one race to run in Adelaide Ryan secured his first Australian championship win in his 5th year in TCM.

“Ryan Hansford is the first driver in 13 years without the surname Johnson or Bowe to win the Touring Car Masters series” said commentator & Motorsport journalist Richard Craill.

Ryan arrived at the final round with a 78 point buffer, …
