Hansford Wins Race 3 and Finishes 2nd Overall at Bathurst

Ryan Hansford and the Multispares Racing team had a standout performance in round 5 at Mt Panorama Bathurst, clinching victory in Race 3, securing a 2nd place overall finish, and significantly closing the points gap to Steve Johnson, who finished 5th.

During practice, Ryan was pleased with the Torana’s performance but sought additional speed due to the shortened session. “The car feels solid, and navigating Mt Panorama is always exhilarating, but I anticipated a bit more speed,” Ryan commented. Despite this, he remained optimistic, stating, “I believe we’re in a good position for Qualifying.”

Qualifying was next up, but the drivers got even less track time with two red flag stoppages meaning that only one car got a flying lap in 20 mins.

After deliberation, the stewards determined that Race 1 would start based on practice times, offering each driver a chance to complete a few laps. Starting 3rd in Race 1, Ryan faced a congested start with cars surrounding him. Reflecting on the start, he explained, “I made a good start, but it was crowded going into turn 1 with Andrew Fisher on my right and John Bowe attempting to manoeuvre around both of us.” Despite the challenges, Ryan managed a remarkable recovery, making two significant passes and finishing 4th at the notoriously difficult-to-pass Bathurst track.

In Race 2, starting 4th, Ryan executed an early attack strategy, moving to 3rd. However, John Bowe’s tough defence posed a challenge. Engaging in a gripping battle, Ryan closely trailed Bowe before pulling off a spectacular pass at over 280 KM/H across the mountain, showcasing his determination and skill.

Race 4 witnessed an impressive start for Ryan, relentlessly closing in on the previous race winners. By lap 4, he was tailing Marcus Zukanovic and made the most of a small mistake by Zukanovic in the final corner, seizing victory in Race 4.

Throughout the races, Ryan showcased remarkable driving and determination, securing multiple positions despite getting caught behind cars that were faster in a straight line.
